Baking and Crunch

Well, I've over eaten all WEEK long. I even had one of those days when I couldn't stop being hungry no matter how much I ate.

I'm looking through old recipe books. I'm trying to figure which new baking recipes I'll try this year. I make my standard red hot Santas and my oatmeal with white chocolate and cranberry cookies. I think I'll add at least one new types. Maybe a recipe that includes peanut butter.

Crunch. That's the sound that my right rhomboid is making. I've decided to use one of those home massage things to break up the scar tissue and relax the trigger point in my rhomboid. Scar tisse build up is a normal thing for athletes and weight lifters. The muscle fibers are constantly tearing, so the scar tissue builds up in certain spots. My right rhomboid seems to collect scar tissue. It's crunchy and brittle to the touch. Every time the massage heads hits it, you can hear a crunching, snapping sound. The first session was rough. The following day the whole area was tender to the touch. I felt like I had a softball jammed under my shoulder blade. That's normal and expected, though. The second and third sessions still produced a crunchy sound, but no additional soreness has occurred. It's a good sign that it working itself out.

Am I the only who over ate this past week?

Wow. Sometimes things really surprise you. I was just peeking around on Esty when I found this listing on a site that usually sells hair clips.

http://www.etsy.com/view_listing.php?listing_id=35131176

We had one of these boxes when I was small. It disappeared at some point and I always wondered what happened to it. It seems my Dad only throws away sentimental things that I love, like my childhood Christmas stocking, but keeps old meaningless junk around forever. I wonder where the seller found this mint of an item?

Thanksgiving
To get in the spirit, here's a little meme for the holiday.

1. What are the traditional favorites?
I don't have traditional favorites. I guess pumpkin pie.

2. What new recipes will you try this year?
Gingerbread cupcakes with cream-cheese frosting

3. What part of the meal do you never compromise?
It should look nice. I decorate the table and make the meal look special, like it's more of an event.

4. Who gets to carve the turkey?
*shudder* Someone else. In fact, anyone else, other then me.

5. Family style around the table or buffet style and everyone sits wherever there’s room?
I like to do a sit down dinner.

6. How many will be at your table this year?
Just one. By choice BTW.

7. Three best pies for Thanksgiving dessert?
Pumpkin, pecan, and something apple.

8. Cranberry sauce… yay or nay?
Nay. Although, I use cranberries in one of my sauces. It gives it a tart zing.

9. What time do you eat Thanksgiving Dinner?
Probably around 7:00pm. I hate eating a big meal early in the day.

10. Favorite leftover?
Pie

11. Favorite memory?
Nothing specific actually. I never liked Thanksgiving as a kid. I do like the memories of crisp smelling air and leaves falling.

Behind the Times

Thanksgiving
I finally watched the second Transformers movie. I know, I know, I'm slow moving when it come to pop culture. I did enjoy it. It was a pretty fun and empty distraction. I must admit I had trouble telling the good auto-bots from the bad ones during the fight scenes. I was like "was that a good robot or bad robot that just died?" Two interesting thoughts, during the opening scene when the robots attack CHINA. No one got the attack on VIDEOTAPE, in CHINA. Really? Also how come in most films every depicted high ranking military General has a southern accent? Is this some strange throwback to the romance that surrounded Confederate General's during the Civil War?

The two lead military guys were hot. THAT was refreshing.

What are you guys cooking for Thanksgiving?

K, I'm posting pics as I find them. I thought this one was a riot. You can see my Suess Monster feet, hands, tail, and the glory of a push-up bra. I still don't know the identity of the gentleman that came to my rescue. He found me a the top of a hill, slipping in the mud. Without saying a word, he scooped me up and carried me to the costume contest. Thanks, who ever you are!!

when the big things in life stink, you just have to focus on the small ones.

The good smalls:

1. Little wrinkle-pickle ratties that sit in my lap and chew holes in my pajamas.

2. My home is warm and snug.

3. I'm super skinny and can eat lots of cake.

4. The fall weather and the leaves changing are really beautiful.

5. My pumpkin colored poncho that makes me feel like I'm wrapped in a blanket, but it looks super cute at the same time.

I just found and old photo that made me both happy and sad. It's probably one of my favorite pictures of Ken and I. We took it ourselves at a funny angle while on a short trip. He looks so healthy and happy in that photo. Sigh. I'll post it later when I can.

How did it get to be November. October really didn't exist for me this year. The holidays are here! This year will be a strange one.

So, I'm underweight and I'm supposed to drop back on my cardio. Drop back on my CARDIO. I never thought I'd hear those words uttered in reference to me. Cardio is a natural curvy girls religion. I've spent a decade ingraining cardio into my mind. I'm not sure I can back off on it. It's too deeply rooted. I'm also supposed to eat more fat. That, I can handle. I'm thinking that holiday eating will be good. Then I remember I won't be able to go home this year. It will be the first time ever that I've missed the holiday at home. Most of the holiday food that I enjoy is homemade. Maybe I won't be eating more fat. I don't want to home cook just for myself. That's boring. I need to find reasons to bake I guess. Holiday cookies=yummy.

I've lost my legs. In the course of one month, I've lost my legs. I thought they looked really skinny last weekend. I've never had skinny legs. I don't want skinny legs. Le Sigh. It will probably take a long time to rebuild the muscle I've lost, what a drag. But hey, Cookies!

Thanks

I want to thank all my friends for a good weekend.

Thanks to B and A for offering to tote me around with them on Saturday night. I had a great time with you guys.

Thanks to Sabrina and Wendie for having me at their wonderful party. Thanks to you girls for sacrificing your carpets to the GA clay. You're stronger then am I for that, carpet ain't cheap. I met the loveliest bunch of girls at the party. Lovely is really the only word to describe them. They were so friendly, thoughtful, and positive. Thank you lovely girls for just being who you are.

Thank you to the gentlemen that carried me down the hill so that I could see the costume contest. I never got your name. He saved me because my costume was awkward and the hill was muddy and slick. I never would have made it alone.

Thank you to B for carrying me back up the hill when I could no longer handle the cold.

Thanks to all my friends for showing me that even when your heart is broken, there are still good things in the world.

The good thing about being a costuming nerd is that Halloween is a snap. Throws open the costume closet. What to choose? What to choose?

I put a call out to my witchy friends, throw a good cast my way. I need all the help I can get at the moment.

I hope everyone has a good Halloween. Or as Pooh Bear would say "have a great Hallo-wasn't."

That little ghost in my icon looks like a marshmallow ghost. I needs me some marshmallow, sugar covered ghost. Nom Nom.

Butts. Quite being pervery, this is a practical discussion. I've noticed that in the museum industry many photographs of exhibit elements have people in them. Well, people's butts at any rate. I know most photos are taken while people are looking at the exhibits, but surely there's a way to avoid all the butt shots. I've been looking through exhibit magazines all day. I'm tired of looking a big butts. This is America, all the butts in the photos are big. Big, wide, and flat. People of the museum industry, just say "no" to giant ass shots. Seriously, I can't even remember the exhibits, just butts.

I need candy.

I am so tired. The weeks keep getting busier and busier. Little ratties fussing each other is also on my last nerve. Good grief, you're rats! Life is not that complicated. Shut up already!

I just broke one of own rules. I've buckled down on the finances since the future is completely up in the air at the moment. I swore I would only buy necessary items. However, Joan Boyce a serious rock star level jewelry designer, has made a HUGE cameo and turquoise bead necklace. I swooned and bought it without blinking! K, but that's it. Only food and basics will be purchased in the future. I will wear the necklace as a symbol of rebirth and the beginning of a new life.

I'm trying to work the scarecrow exhibit at the botanical gardens into my weekend schedule. Any locals gonna be around this weekend?

Weekend

Halloween
It's gotten oddly cold in the ATL. I had to break out my winter running gear today. Winter running gear in October is just plain crazy talk.

A friend made an LJ post that really touched me. Bless you.

Yesterday started out pretty emo on my part. I guess I can expect a fair bit of emo for awhile. After several hours of that, I pulled myself up and made myself go out and see the world. I took myself out for a casual dinner. Later, I practiced lacing myself into a corset. I did OK. I need to work on lacing the top part around the bust better, but that's hard to reach. Later that night, Bob picked me up and we joined a group of friends at the Jungle's costume event. We hung out and danced, watched the show and such. It was good getting out. A guy tried to pick me up, he was 23! That was really entertaining. Bob scared him away after awhile.

The girls have been bickering. I swear hairless rats are high maintenance. They argue like human siblings and get their feelings hurt and such. Last night Rooh was playing on the couch and Bianca walked casually by and grabbed one of Rooh's wrinkles in her teeth. She pulled it and it stretched out like one of those jelly filled toys we played with as kids.

I'm thinking about baking brownies, but I also feel kinda lazy.
